As perhaps the only shinigami who is known to have been married, I am obviously the person to help you. So pay attention, Hitsugaya, as I tell you how to woo the romantic object of your choice.” 1. Make sure they know how much better you are than them “Our world is inhabited by only one type of person: those who want to be stronger than they are. If you establish that you are better than your romantic interest, then you will set yourself up as their goal. And then they will pursue you with eager interest.Believe me, I have seen this happen. My lieutenant knew that I was better than him, and so he pursued me. Kurosaki Ichigo could not beat me at first, and so he pursued me. It is an old story. Therefore, you must go to your beloved, look them in the eye, and say words to the effect of,‘Do you know the difference between you and me? It is class.’ Only do not say that exactly because that is my thing.” 2. Do not show emotion “Once you have their interest, you must not ruin it with anything so crass as visible emotions. Nobody likes visible emotions. Instead, save your emotions for moments of true intensity. For instance, I did not so much as widen my eyes during my sister’s execution - until Kurosaki Ichigo donned a hollow mask and lunged at me. Note - I am not saying that you should don a hollow mask and lunge at your would-be-flame. That is simply an example of the extreme circumstances in which emotion is acceptable.” 3. Make sure your hair is always on point “Hopefully this goes without saying. If you still gel your hair, Hitsugaya, you must gel it as you have never gelled it before. Or you could get a...different hairstyle.” 4. Do not refer to them by their name “In a true romance, the partners do not use each other’s names. Many people use‘pet names.’ Now, I find most‘pet names’ to be far too cheesy to be acceptable. But the sentiment is correct. For instance, I show my brotherly affection for my sister by referring to her as my‘pride.’ Not using her name demonstrates that I care. You can show romantic affection in a similar way. Choose the abstract idea that is most important to you, and use it to refer to your beloved. They will appreciate it, I guarantee it.” 5. Give them your clothing “Sharing clothing is an age-old wooing tactic. However, you must be careful as to what kind of clothing you give them. Scarfs? The most romantic of clothing. Socks? Obviously not. Your coat? Sure, if you want to be pedestrian.” 6. Take them somewhere romantic “The environment sets the mood. Personally, I think the cherry trees in my backyard provide the most romantic of settings. Please understand: I am not giving you permission to trespass on my land. Rather, you must find your own romantic getaway. I understand that you enjoy heights. Perhaps find somewhere high with an excellent view, and then take your intended there.” 7. Share their interests “It is important that you take an interest in the things that your romantic partner cares about. For example, my wife Hisana spent every weekend searching for her lost baby sister. Naturally, I took the search on myself. Only perhaps you should try to do so before your beloved dies. I hear that can help.” 8. Compliment them (especially when they are sad) “Compliments are excellent in a relationship - so long as your intended still realizes that you are better than them (see point #1). I find that compliments are especially important when the other person is feeling sad. For example, just before I left my lieutenant for dead, I told him that his fang had reached me (long story). I think that as the blood loss and the arms of death closed around him, he appreciated that.” 9. Protect them and let them protect you “In our line of work, both you and your flame will end up with your lives at risk. That is fact. It is important that you be there when your love needs your help. But equally, it is important that you accept help when you need it. The latter is difficult, I know, but important. You may even want to fight side by side. If I can endure having the barbarian Kenpachi fight beside me, then I’m sure you can do the same with the object of your affection. Just remember Point #10, Hitsugaya.” 10. Do NOT stab them “Unless, I suppose, you are hoping to date Kenpachi or Kurosaki Ichigo. But in general, Hitsugaya, try to avoid the stabbing.”
